Generous primary pupils gave up their own pocket money to help the victims of the devastating Nepal earthquake last week.

Over £700 was raised with a Mufti day at St John's Combined School in Lacey Green, which saw 252 pupils bringing in money to donate to Nepal in Need.

The children, dressed in their own clothes, were asked to donate £1 each, but many of them gave up their pocket money so they could give more.

The total raised currently stands at £702, which will be donated to Nepal in Need, a small registered charity with six unpaid volunteer trustees, who launched a special appeal in the wake of the catastrophic earthquake.
