The owner of a wine bar in Princes Risborough has voiced her fears that customers will go elsewhere this summer because of a planning condition that prevents her from using the bar's garden.

Louise Rice, owner of Dukes Wine Bar in Duke Street, has put in an application to remove the condition, which states the rear garden area cannot be used for smoking or the consumption of alcohol.

Wycombe District Council put the order in place to protect nearby residents from disruption, but Ms Rice believes her customers are not noisy.

She said: "Because of the size of the garden, there isn’t going to be a lot of noise. The people who use this place aren’t rowdy or loud anyway, so I don’t believe there would be a problem.

"People just want to be able to use the garden on a sunny day and people will go elsewhere if we can’t open it up for use in the summer."

Ms Rice says she has her fingers crossed that the restriction will be removed.

She said: "I'll be really upset if they don’t take away the condition. The council can give you a year-long trial to see how it goes and I would be more than happy with that.

"The garden needs a little tidy up but it’s a nice area and has space for about ten tables. It would be really nice in the warm weather."
