A controversial planning application for 90 new houses in Monks Risborough has been withdrawn after Wycombe District Council raised issues with it.

The application for 90 new houses and a new community sports facility on the site of the former Molins Sports Ground in Mill Lane, which is green belt land, was submitted on behalf of Molins PLC in August 2014.

The application, which received over 40 objections online, was formally withdrawn on June 3 after failing to reach an agreement with Wycombe District Council over issues like transport, noise and flooding.

Wycombe District Council cited flooding and sewerage problems, the loss of the site as a sports facility and loss of green belt land in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) as potential reasons to refuse the application.

Bill Morle, from Wilks Head and Eve LLP chartered surveyors, who submitted the application on behalf of Molins PLC, sent a letter to WDC withdrawing the application on May 29.

In the letter, Mr Morle told of his "disappointment" that the issues could not be resolved, and said: "The applicant will now be considering alternative proposals for the site."
