A Princes Risborough resident celebrated a milestone birthday with loved ones last week.

Helene Craft, who lives in Berryfield Road, was surrounded by friends and family as she celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday, July 10.

Town Mayor and Chairman of Princes Risborough Town Council, Alan Turner, joined the celebrations to present Mrs Craft with a birthday card on behalf of the Council.

He said: “She’s a really wonderful lady and she has got a great sense of humour. If I were to ever make it to that age, I would love to be as with it as she is.

“She is a truly remarkable lady. She seemed to really enjoy her day, surrounded by family and friends.”

Since Mrs Craft was born in 1915, there have been 19 Prime Ministers and four British Monarchs.

She has survived two World Wars, saw the invention of the television and the first men to walk on the moon and witnessed England win the World Cup.

In the same year that she was born, the British Women’s Institute was discovered, John McCrae wrote In Flanders Fields and Sheffield United won the FA Cup.
