Booker Gliding Club

Flying a sailplane glider is the purest way to fly and you can experience this at Booker Gliding Club, just outside Marlow. After being towed aloft by a powered light aircraft your instructor will release the cable and you will soar effortlessly over the beautiful Thames Valley. Strike it lucky and contact a thermal and you will experience the unrivalled thrill of climbing higher still, courtesy of the sun, to give you more time to enjoy the ride, take control - if you're brave enough - and really get an idea of what the sport is all about.
On an average summer's day the intrepid Booker pilots will fly for hours in a single flight, from thermal to thermal for hundreds of kilometers exploring the coutryside to the Welsh borders and beyond and, usually, get back in time for tea or a drink in the bar! Or loop the loop gracefully over upside down fields shouting their heads off. Or just relax, ride the thermals, meander through the skies and marvel at this amazing sport until it is time to come gently back to earth.
You too could so easily be doing just the same. Men and women from 14 to 84 fly at Booker and would love you to come and join them.. If you enjoy your flight we will try to sell you longer courses ranging from 3 to 50 flights and then you will be well and truly hooked - but why not? We think it's the best true escape this side of the Himalayas!
