Doc hails Scowen impact

JOSH Scowen has already become an integral part of the Wanderers midfield, believes Blues skipper Gary Doherty.

The teenager is still making his first steps in professional football, having made fewer than ten appearances for Blues since making his debut last April.

But he's become a key player since Gareth Ainsworth was handed temporary control of the side and Doherty thinks he's getting better with every game.

The club captain said: "He's very good at picking up second balls and he reads the game very well for a young lad - every little knock down, he seems to get on.

"His passing has certainly got a lot better in the last couple of games. He seems to get on top of games now and he can run the show now.

"He's made himself an integral part with his performances. Results have picked up since he's come in.

"He listens all the time, he's always looking for information, which is a good trait as a youngster. You're always looking to get better and improve your game - he's certainly doing that."

Scowen has grabbed his chance to make an impression after being recalled early from a loan spell at non-league Eastbourne Borough.

Injury to Matt Bloomfield and Matt Spring's loss of form has opened the door for the 19-year-old and Doherty is happy with the competition for places in the middle of the park.

He said: "It's a big plus for us. He's got players around him trying to get in his place so that's a positive for the squad. It's great when young lads come in and do well."
