GARETH Ainsworth will be looking for a fast start from his players against Crewe tomorrow.

He was critical of the slow start Blues made in their last two home games and wants his men to turn that around in tomorrow's FA Cup tie.

He said: "I've said recently we need to start games a little bit better. We had a spell of doing really well and in the last two games against Barnet and Oxford we seem to have been just a bit below par first half and back to our usual selves second half.

"If we can get our starts right, which we've been working on again, and take the game to them straight away we won't go far wrong.

"There will be trigger points or moments I want the lads to recognise in games, and realise we can't start slowly. We have to get into these games and hit the ground running. That will be key against Crewe."

Ainsworth pointed to the last time Wanderers faced a League One side away from home in a cup competition as Blues raced out of the blocks against Portsmouth, going in front inside 13 seconds.

That 3-1 win in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy landed them the result of the round award this week and Ainsworth said: "If we start like we did that night it would be fantastic."
