Wanderers give it to Gaz

Gareth Ainsworth Gareth Ainsworth

GARETH Ainsworth has been confirmed as Wycombe Wanderers manager.

Ainsworth has been caretaker boss since the club sacked Gary Waddock but it's been announced this morning that he has now been given the job until the end of the season.

Wanderers enjoyed an immediate upturn of fortunes when Ainsworth, 39, took over with successive wins over Torquay, Portsmouth and Fleetwood.

But results have tailed off since then with two League points from the last 12 available and an FA Cup exit at the hands of Crewe Alexandra thrown in as well.

Whilst this is the cheap option and we are now joint bottom, it doesn't mean it is the wrong choice. We have many players out injured and when they return form should improve. Ainsworth has earnt a chance and I doubt very much we will get relegated.
