GARETH Ainsworth has thanked Wanderers supporters after saying they played a key part in his appointment as manager.

The 39-year-old has been made manager on a full-time basis after taking caretaker charge for the last ten matches, the club announced this morning.

And he said a united front between players, staff and supporters will be key to taking the club away from the League Two relegation zone.

Ainsworth said: "Thanks to the fans - they have played a big part in me getting the job. Trying to bridge the gap between fans and players has been tough.

"We don't want the gap to be there, we want it to be fans and players together - Wycombe Wanderers all as one together, going forward as one."
