THOUGHTS of retirement aren't on Gareth Ainsworth's mind just yet.

When he was appointed player-coach in the summer Ainsworth admitted he was likely to be phased out of the team gradually.

And he said his appointment as manager has done nothing to change his plans.

Ainsworth said: "The playing side will still go on. There's no plans to hang the boots up straight away because I've become manager.

"I'm reaching 40 next summer so it's something I'll have to consider. Hopefully I won't be needed on the pitch because things are going well with the lads I've put out there.

"With the injury crisis we've had recently it's been important for me to be out there.

"The boots are still available to be put on. Hopefully the boys will do well enough to keep me on the sidelines."
