ALL is well again at Wasps this week after the squad players restored trust with an impressive LV Cup win over Worcester yesterday.
Director of rugby Dai Young told his back-up players they had to earn their place at the club after they let themselves down in Cardiff the previous weekend.
Worcester, he said, could be the last chance for a while for some of them, but Wasps 28-19 win was a forceful reposte.
Young said: “A lot of players showed me what I knew they could do.
“It’s no good me having the confidence in them, they’ve got to go out and push their claims and I thought a lot of people stood up and showed what it means to play for Wasps and how much they want to put pressure on me for selection.
The back row of Sam Jones, Matt Everard and Ashley Johnson was particularly impressive, while Tommy Bell kicked five out of five off the tee and Jack Wallace and Charlie Davies scored blistering second-half tries.
Young said: “We played against a very experienced Worcester team, but I was really pleased with a lot of aspects.
There are still things to work on but on the whole I was really pleased with the performance and the reaction to last week.
“We won most 50/50s, we were really urgent in most departments and we had a lot of bite in the way we played.
“I was really pleased with the step up from last week and a lot of players today did themselves the power of good.”
