MATT McClure has been tipped to be the man to get goals for Wanderers this season by manager Gareth Ainsworth.

The Blues boss said there's no reason why the striker, who turned 21 last Saturday, shouldn't get into double figures for the season.

The Northern Ireland U21 international is already halfway to that total as he followed up his pair of goals at Rotherham on Tuesday night by bagging another brace against Burton on Saturday.

Ainsworth was full of praise for the striker after the 3-0 win against the Brewers, saying:"Matt is an out and out goalscorer. He's one of those strikers who plays as high as he can, almost offside half the time.

"[Assistant manager] Richard Dobson's being doing some good work with him. I believe in him and I believe Matt can be the double figure man this season. If he can continue the way he's going, there's no reason why Matt McClure can't get into double figures.

"He's highly thought of by me and he plays a big part in my plans."

McClure was unfortunate not to walk away with the match ball as he headed inches wide of the target from a pinpoint cross, before he was replaced late on by Junior Morias to a standing ovation.

Ainsworth said: "He's a great header of the ball and he's scored some great goals this week in heading in training. I was expecting that one to nestle in for his hat trick."
