CHRISTMAS came early for Wycombe Swimming Club as they returned from Germany with 188 medals to finish as tope club overall at the Kelkhiem Christmas Gala.

Kelkhiem is Wycombe’s twin town, and the Bucks swimmers have been forging relationships between the two through competition for almost three decades.

This year the club sent 16 swimmers across The Channel for the two-day gala with clubs from all over northerm Germany, and their star performer wer Dan Manners and Katie Cannon.

They qualified for the finals in the 100m freestyle and breaststroke respectively, with Manners racing to silver and Cannon finishing just outside the medals.

Meanwhile, the ladies relay teams were in peak form as they took first and third overall.

They also finished second in a unique event for the Kelkhiem Gala – a 12 x 50m team relay.

In total, Wycombe ended the competition with 54 golds, 33 silvers and 31 bronzes.
