MEMORIES of Wanderers' run to the League Cup semi finals came flooding back for Blues midfielder Matt Bloomfield as Bradford City made it into the final four.

The Bantams, who visit Adams Park on Saturday, followed Blues' lead into the semi finals with a penalty shoot-out victory against Premier League giants Arsenal last week.

Bloomfield, the last player left from the side that made it to the competition's last four in 2006-07, said it made him think back to the time Wanderers took on Chelsea.

He said: "The start of the game when they came out and there's a big crowd, that brought it back to the year we had our run. It did bring back a lot of memories from the year we got to the semi finals.

"The atmosphere and the anticipation from that evening [of the semi final] was pretty special. The game went by in a blur because you're just enjoying the occasion. I don't know if it ever sinks in. It was all over before you took in the actual occasion."

There are parallels between Wycombe's run and Bradford's. Both sides knocked out two Premier League opponents to reach the semi finals and both had to overcome Notts County, who Bloomfield said were Wanderers' toughest opponents of the run.

Speaking of Bradford's win against Arsenal, Bloomfield said: "I thought they played really well. They didn't just defend all night, they looked an attacking threat as well. They deserved the result. You'd expect Arsenal to go there and win, but fair play to them, they did well."

Today marks six years to the day since Wycombe sealed their place in the last four with a 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic at The Valley.
