No plans for Boxing Day pitch inspection
10:23am Monday 24th December 2012 in Sport By Andy Carswell
CHELTENHAM Town say there are currently no plans to hold a pitch inspection ahead of Wycombe Wanderers' Boxing Day clash at Whaddon Road.
Heavy rain has been falling in Gloucestershire for the last few days but the forecast is for it to start easing ahead of Blues' trip west along the A40 on Wednesday, leading to hopes the match should go ahead as planned.
The rain led to Gloucester City, who share Cheltenham's ground, having to call off their home match against Guiseley on Saturday as the pitch was waterlogged.
Wanderers' players were left kicking their heels at the weekend after the wet conditions led to their game with Bradford also being called off.
The enforced break will have given injured duo Dean Morgan and Dave Winfield extra time to recover from hamstring trouble, but it means striker Matt McClure is yet to serve his one match after being sent off at Accrington Stanley.
Meanwhile Cheltenham's players were dragged in for extra training on Saturday after Robins boss Mark Yates was left far from impressed with his side's display in a 4-1 Friday night defeat at Rochdale.
A fuming Yates lambasted the performance, calling it a 'disgrace' and saying his players defended 'like pansies'.
