WANDERERS staff are having to rely on scouting reports to track the progress of Matt Ingram - because the modest youngster won't tell them how he's getting on.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper recently agreed to extend his loan spell at Conference North side Oxford City until the end of the season and celebrated by saving a last minute penalty in a 2-1 New Year's Day win.

His performances between the sticks have earned him rave reviews - not that Ingram will let on to his manager at Adams Park.

Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth said: "I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said he's held them together in games.

"We've had reports back saying he's been outstanding. He's really made a difference but he's so humble he won't come back and say that himself. He's a level headed guy so we have to go other places to get reports on Matt because he won't tell us.

"He doesn't want to big himself up and that's why Matt Ingram will have a career in the game, because he keeps his feet on the ground.

"Lee Harrison works with him every game and the reports back are we've got a young starlet there."

Wanderers have the option to recall Ingram from his loan at 24 hours' notice.
