Morgan uncertain on future despite contract extension
DEAN Morgan says he's happy to be at a club where he feels appreciated - but admits he doesn't know what the long-term future holds for him.
The striker delighted Blues fans last week by agreeing an extension to his contract to remain at Adams Park until the end of the season after a string of fine performances.
Where he'll be next season could depend on how Wanderers do for the remainder of the season - but Morgan said the current squad is stronger than the one that was promoted two seasons ago.
The 29-year-old said: "I don't know what the future holds to be honest. I know I'm here until the end of the season. For the future, we'll have to wait and see - depending on how we do and the club's situation. I want to progress to where I feel I should be.
"I thought this was an opportunity to come here, settle down and do well. It was an opportunity to prove to myself I'm good enough, and even better, than where I am now."
But he added: "I'm enjoying myself. I'm being appreciated for what I'm doing for myself and the team, and I think we're moving in the right direction.
"I don't believe this club should be where it is in this league. When I was at Chesterfield we both came up and it was surprising how both of us didn't do well [both teams went straight back down again after promotion].
"There's players here now who are better than what was here before. It's just a matter of getting everyone together and pushing on.
"Gaz has definitely given me a lot of confidence - to be fair Gary Waddock did as well - but Gaz has definitely been one of the focal points. He appreciated me and what I was doing - he's part of the plan."
