BLUES boss Gareth Ainsworth says he'll be looking to get one over on AFC Wimbledon tomorrow as he locks horns with a former Crazy Gang team mate.

The last time the sides met saw the curtain fall on Gary Waddock's near-three year spell in charge of Wanderers, with the former manager sacked in the wake of a 1-0 defeat at Adams Park.

It was meant to be on a day of celebration with Wanderers marking their 125th anniversary during a match against another supporter-owned club.

Reflecting on that day, Ainsworth said: "It was a must win game for us at the time. We were on a bad run and the club was pretty flat.

"I felt for Gary. A lot of things were against him that day and everyone knows what happened after that.

"It's not a revenge thing but it would be nice to get one over on them because they beat us at our patch. It would be nice to turn them over on their own patch."

After a season of struggle the Dons look to be turning the corner with two successive wins under new manager Neal Ardley - a former team mate of Ainsworth's at the original Wimbledon before their controversial franchise move to Milton Keynes.

And the Blues boss said he always felt during their playing days together that Ardley was destined for the manager's dugout.

He said: "We were both relatively young, in our late 20s, in the Crazy Gang at Wimbledon. I think he might have been involved in cutting my clothes up when I signed so he was definitely a fully fledged member.

"He was a good player, very technically gifted. You could see tactically he had good nous about him and he was ready to go into coaching. His time at Cardiff with the youth team has got him in good stead.

"We'll probably have a beer together afterwards because we're good friends. We went out a lot together and bonded well together at Wimbledon."

Wanderers' form has been inconsistent in recent games with wins followed by defeats and Ainsworth is keen to break that cycle tomorrow.

He said: "This win one, lose one thing, I hope that breaks on Saturday because we need to start winning again."
