WASPS say Saturday’s 11-try blitz over Mogliano to book their place in the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals was job well done.
While they would always have expected to beat the Italians and make it ten from ten at Adams Park, the way they did it pleased director of rugby Dai Young as they ran in four tries inside 16 minutes to kill the tie off early.
He said: “It was just as much mental as physical.
“We talked about having a good start and making sure we didn’t give them any confidence, and I thought we did that.
“I was really pleased with the defence. I thought we had a real bit to our defence and I think that signals where we are mentally.
“We forced a lot of turnover ball, especially in the first half, which created a lot of tries for us.
“You have to be satisfied. We got the bonus point, we can pick up a lot of confidence from the way we played and we didn’t get any injuries.”
