WYCOMBE Hockey Club’s bid to avoid dropping out of the South Hockey League Premier Division will be put on hold tomorrow as half their squad go in search of second successive national title.

The men's match with bottom club Gore Court has been postoned as five of their team will be playing for the U18s as they try to defend their U18 National Indoor Finals title, coached by first team captain Gary Goodchild.

Wycombe play Bath and Beeston tomorrow before taking on Doncaster and Harleston on Sunday.

It’s a huge weekend for Wycombe, with their U18 girls also in National Final action, taking on Beeston, Taunton, Sevenoaks and Bowden.

Meanwhile, Will Needham’s double helped the first team to a 2-2 draw with Woking.

Wycombe 2s were beaten 2-1 b Eastcote (Chris Goodchild), the third team drew 0-0 with Maidenhead and Wycombe 4s lost 5-3 to Brunel University (Harry Bennett, John Reid and Paul Thomas).

Colin James scored as Wycombe 5s lost 3-1 to Witney but Wycombe 6s and 7s restored pride with 2-0 and 6-0 victories over Witney 4s and Eastcote thanks to goals fromPhil Lloyd, Andy Wotherspoon, Richard Bibby (2), Kevin Olinn (2), Olly Britnell and Damian Power.
