CHESHAM United’s head of steam has cooled this week with the freezing weather putting their mini revival on ice.

On Saturday their trip to Bashley had to be called off and then Monday night’s trip to Hitchin was postponed as well.

Manager Andy Leese said: “We’ve just had some good results so we were desperate to play.

“I’ve got everyone fit and firing so it’s very frustrating.

“Everyone else in the league got to play and it just puts pressure on us.

“It’s all very well having the games in hands, but you need to get the points.”

And their prospects for hosting Arlesey on Saturday are also looking slim.

The weather is due to close in again on Friday and Chesham is at the bottom of a valley and one of the coldest places around.

Leese said: “We’ve got Saturday/Tuesday fixtures until the end of the season so I’ll be pleading with the board to me get a bigger squad.”

Chesham will now play Hitchin on Monday, February 25, and Bashley on Tuesday, January 29.
