WASPS are the team to watch in the Amlin Challenge Cup, according to the man that led them to their last victory in the competition.

Lawrence Dallaglio captained the black and golds to a 48-30 win over Bath in 2003 and thinks the portents are good again for his former club this season.

He said: “Wasps have a tremendous history in the Amlin Challenge Cup, “They are previous winners and you have to say out of all the contenders they are the ones playing really well.

“They are a team bang in form and it’s just such a massive contrast from what we saw last season.

“They are rebuilding and this is really their opportunity to push on.

“But I don’t think anyone is getting carried away. The coaching team of Dai Young and Trevor Woodman and Shane Howarth are very pragmatic, they’ve still got some big challenges ahead.”

Wasps aim to secure a home quarter-final tie by beating Newport-Gwent Dragons in tonight's final pool game in Wales.
