Safety first still Ainsworth's aim

BLUES boss Gareth Ainsworth says he's still looking down the league table rather than up it.

The 39-year-old has guided Wanderers from the foot of the table up to 14th after clocking up an eighth win in 12 games at Gillingham last night.

That upturn in form has led to players and the more optimistic members of the Adams Park faithful talking about a push for the end of season play offs.

But Ainsworth insists his objective for the season is still safety first, despite sitting seven points behind Exeter - who currently hold the last play off place - and having a game in hand.

He said: "People keep looking above and seeing who we can catch. I keep looking below us and keep us pushing further and further away from that bottom two.

"That was my aim when I took over and that's still my aim. I'll keep striving to get away from that bottom two."
