WASPS Director of rugby Dai Young believes the signing of Kearnan Myall will ensure his side have one of the strongest line outs in the league next season.

The England Saxon will arrive at Adams Park in time for next season after agreeing to join the club from Sale Sharks.

Young has signed him to add to the competition for places in an already talented second row featuring Joe Launchbury, whose displays this season have earned England recognition, Tom Palmer and the rapidly improving James Cannon.

Experienced South African lock Marco Wentzel has this week also agreed a contract extension to hand Young a further boost.

He said: "We came into the season with four second row players - that's quite clearly not enough. We need to have five quality second rows and I think we've got that now.

"James Cannon has really kicked on this season. With both Marco and Kearnan on board I don't see any issues and I don't see how we are not going to have one of the best line outs in the Premiership."

Referring to 26-year-old Myall, Young said: "I like to think he's got a big future here at Wasps and a long future.

"He's a similar player to Marco - they are first and second in the line out stats and we now how important the line out is."

Young also spoke about Wentzel agreeing to stay beyond the end of his current contract: "He's been great since he's been here,  leading both on the field and off it."
