THE return of assistant manager Richard Dobson to the training ground this week came as a huge boost to Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth.

Illness meant Dobson had to take the whole week off and was missing from the dugout for both of Blues' last two matches, placing more of a burden on Ainsworth and coach Lee Harrison.

He'll be back amongst the rest of the coaching team on Saturday and Ainsworth is glad to have him back.

The Wanderers manager said: "He was missed greatly by not being here. Me and Lee were trying to take a lot on.

"There's a lot more than just seeing the team on a Saturday. There's the training, all the players who aren't playing, there's scouting games to go to, a bit of admin work and it all piles up with two of us. It does take its toll - we were as tired as the players after some games.

"I don't think one or two of us can do it. It needs at least three of us and Dobbo's a big part of that team.

"There's the three of us - and Lee was part time until recently - then there's Theo the physio, Stewart the kitman and the chef for the rest of the backroom staff. You look at other teams and there's six or seven staff on the bench and we haven't got that luxury.

"We are tight knit, we have a smile on our face every day and get these boys up. It's another feather in our cap to show how far we've come with limited resources."

Ainsworth added: "Hopefully he can bring some of his luck back on the bench as well because he missed two games and we lost them both."
