Wasps not to blame for Wanderers' financial plight

WASPS have moved quickly to quash claims from some Wycombe Wanderers supporters that the football club is facing a winding up order because of unpaid Wasps debts.

Some Blues fans believe that Wasps owe up to £250,000 to the football club, and that if the rugby club paid up then Wanderers could avoid a high court hearing scheduled for March 25.

However, a Wasps statement issued yesterday morning says: "London Wasps can confirm that there are currently no amounts outstanding between the two clubs, except for the usual day-to-day trading balances arising in the normal course of business under the ground sharing agreement. 

"The management teams of the two clubs are in frequent contact and the relationship between the two remains cooperative, productive and mutually supportive."

Wanderers are not disputing this statement.

Wasps were in a similar position to Wanderers this time last year, when they faced going out of business because of lack of funds.

However, a consortium led by Ken Moss stepped up with a short-term solution and it's understood the club is now poised to announce new, long-term investors.

It would be nice to see a statement from the Trust confirming this. The last time fans heard anything concrete from them, the debt was apparently £200,000+ which seems excessive for "day-to-day trading balances arising in the normal course of business."

Maybe WWFC can send a press release to the BFP saying that their tax bill has been fully paid, then it would be reported as an incontestable fact.

The Bucks Free press treatment of Wycombe Wanderers under it's present awful editor has been nothing short of disgraceful.
The Town's greatest sporting ambassadors for over 125 years,are slowly getting back of there knees.
When they finally stand proud once more, and those sponging parasites have wobbled back off to London, i hope they remind Steve Cohort and his cronies that they have not forgotten how they were once treated.

At the AGM the Trust said that Wasps payments were paid in arrears and therefore there would always be some outstanding debt. They hoped to get this down to £100k following a meeting between the Trust Chairman and CEO of Wasps.

Hopefully the clubs can get this sorted and have a proper working relationship to the benefit of both clubs.

Well, my mates daughter walks the dog of the club secretary, and she says if it wasn't for Wasps, and Causeway before them, then Wanderers would never have survived the ITV digital situation. You'd have thought the supporters would be a bit more grateful.
