Smith set for national title rematch

BOXING fans will get the chance to watch Olympic hopeful Ben Smith in action on Saturday.

The Wycombe Boxing Club star will take on Ben Tipler in an eagerly-anticipated rematch of their national title fight last December.

Smith won that night to follow in the footsteps of past winners like Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton, and is on course to break into the GB squad in time for the Rio Games having already been on a number of GB training camps.

He will be one of ten Wycombe Boxing Club members in action at Holmer Green School.

Tickets are £10 and doors open at 12pm for a 12.30pm start.

Meanwhile, Daniel Burridge made it two wins in two weeks as he battled to a unanimous points victory over Luton’s Ahtisham Fariad.

The Wycombe Boxing Club member began confidently and went on to dominate the three rounds.
