BUCKS dodged a second relegation in a row with a thrilling tie-break victory in their final U18s Tennis County Cup match in Newport recently.
They were up against South Wales, Cheshire and Derbyshire in matches consisting of six singles and three doubles.
After losing to South Wales and Cheshire in the first two days, Bucks needed to beat Derbyshire in the final match and got off to a great start with Nick Rennie, Oliver Levi and Kushal Kansagra putting them 3-0 up.
Cheshire came back to level at 3-3 after the singles though, meaning it was all down to the doubles.
Rennie and Calum McKinley won their match, but with Levie and Tom Schmidt losing their game it all rested with Alex Fage and Alex and Kushal, who were locked at one set all.
However, they held their nerve to claim a tense 10-8 tie-break victory and save Bucks for another season.
The squad was: Thomas Schmidt, Calum McKinlay, Alex Fage, Kushal Kansagra, Kiran Kudravilli, Oliver Levi, ,Nick Rennie, Edward Taylor and manager Andy Scholfield
