Wade excited by Adams Park return
FAMILY and friends of Christian Wade have had to get used to watching their hero on television this summer.
But after touring the southern hemisphere with England and The Lions, the 22-year-old is eager to play in his home town of Wycombe again.
He said: “It’s been quite a while and it will be fun to get down there again and play at the stadium.
“It’s a nice surface and I always enjoy playing there.
“A lot of people come down, especially for home games. My family are very supportive so there’ll be a lot of people there.”
Wade has only been back training for two weeks, but said: "I’m ready to go, but it depends on if the coaches pick me."
Wade spent the first part of the summer in Argentina as part of England’s summer tour, before crossing the world to join up with the British and Irish Lions in Australia.
He said: “We were watching the games in Argentina but I never expected to get a call up. There are a lot of guys ahead of me and I’ve only got one cap.
“It was a big call and I’m very grateful. I was overwhelmed to go out there and be a part of the whole thing.
“The squad was full of guys with great careers and I remember Brian O’Driscoll’s speech before a training session before the second Test. He explained how big the game was.
“He’d been there 12 years ago and it was a massive tour for him on a personal note and for the Lions. That was the stand-out moment for me.”
