Ainsworth still angered at Oxford equaliser
BLUES were left fuming at Oxford's last minute equaliser on Saturday and the decision to award the controversial goal still rankles with manager Gareth Ainsworth almost a week on.
Ainsworth felt Johnny Mullins was only given the chance to fire home the late leveller after a clear foul on Sam Wood by the U's burly striker James Constable in the build-up.
And he felt annoyed enough about referee Andy D'Urso's decision to allow the goal to pass comment on it in his Thursday morning press conference.
He said: "The foul and the last minute goal is something that still churns me inside because I believe it was a foul. Obviously the referee decided differently and he's the one who makes the decision."
Wood himself said immediately after the game: "It was a foul on me but the ref didn't give it. I'm just about to head it and he [Constable] has come and pushed me in the back. What else could I do?
"It was right in front of the ref as well but he's seen it as if it wasn't a foul. I definitely felt somebody push me in the back and I couldn't do anymore."
