Ainsworth praises 'fearless' Kretzschmar
WANDERERS boss Gareth Ainsworth said Max Kretzschmar’s two goals were a reward for the youngster playing without fear.
The teenage midfielder was a breath of fresh air as he added a dash of creativity to Blues’ play in the second half of their win at Hartlepool after coming on at half time.
Kretzschmar scored his first two professional goals as Wanderers won 2-1 and Ainsworth said it was just rewards for his hard work building himself up.
He said: “I’m so pleased for Max – it’s a whirlwind start for his career and he’s all smiles. He’s worked really hard in the summer to come back how I want him. Everything you say to him, he takes it in 100 per cent. If you do that, you get results.
“He’s a clever player, very technical – he’s always had that side. It was the other side, the physical side, the energetic side, being able to compete with men in a game that means so much – he’s got that now. Max Kretzschmar is now a big part of my side.
“He’s a really energetic player. He’s a young lad with no fear. I remember when I was 18, I had no fear at all. It didn’t matter what the score was, I’d run anywhere and Max did that for me. He’s capped it off with two fantastic goals. I wouldn’t have been able to finish like that at 18. He’s got a composed head.”
