No approach from Sunderland to take Knott back
BILLY Knott is not expected to go back to Sunderland despite their managerial change this week.
The midfielder extended his youth loan spell with Wanderers last week but following the Black Cats' decision to sack controversial boss Paolo di Canio Blues fans were worried the Premiership side might curtail the deal.
Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth said Sunderland's youth coach Kevin Ball, who has been placed in temporary charge after di Canio's departure, has not told him he plans to take Knott back to the north east however.
He said: "Kevin has made no indication he's going to drag Billy back. He's happy here and we're really happy to have him.
"I'm sure Kevin has got quite a bit on his plate. If he was going to play Billy in the first team I'm sure he'd have let us know by now and taken him back, but he's got things to sort out up there.
"We've had no indication Sunderland want Billy back yet, which is great."
Knott has earned himself cult status among Wanderers fans since joining on loan and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win at Plymouth last week.
