Ainsworth: We can't keep relying on Ingram
GARETH Ainsworth warned his Wanderers players they can't keep relying on highly-rated goalkeeper Matt Ingram to bail them out of trouble.
The former John Hampden pupil was beaten by all of Rochdale's first three efforts on goal on Saturday before restoring his pride with a number of superb saves.
He made one jaw dropping save from a searing Matt Done volley in the second half as Blues tried to fight back from 3-0 down.
They pulled it back to 3-2 but Wanderers couldn't force an equaliser despite Ingram's heroics at keeping the score down at the other end.
But Ainsworth said: "We fell down in front of him. We can't keep relying on Matt Ingram to keep pulling worldy saves off. There were problems before it came to Matt Ingram I have to sort out.
"He kept us in it. When we were pushing forward for the goal gaps were appearing. He did what he's been known for doing, he's making amazing saves. It could have been more but for him.
"I don't know how he could have saved two of the goals. They were well out of his reach - I don't think any of the goals he could have got near.
"He's an outstanding prospect, he's going to be a top keeper. This is a learning curve for him as well."
