Fly half will come Goode
ANDY Goode might be second on the all-time list of top Premiership goal kickers, but off the tee he’s made an indifferent start to his Wasps career.
A high profile miss on the opening day of the season cost Wasps victory against Harlequins, he missed another decisive conversion late in the game against Sale and last Saturday he missed all four of his conversion attempts in the 32-16 win over Worcester.
However, Goode’s pedigree is beyond doubt and director of rugby Dai Young isn’t concerned.
He said: “His record speaks for itself. It’s not for the want of working on it because obviously he feels very strongly about his kicking game.
“It’s been excellent for him over the years and hopefully after [Worcester] you won’t see too many more of them.
“But that’s what happens with kickers – on ocassions things don’t go well and certainly it wasn’t one of his better days.
“But I thought his kicking out of hand was excellent.
“It’s a real boost to the team when you’re deep inside your 22 and you clear your lines and the forwards are jogging past the half way line.”
