Gaz: Formation change helping Kuffour
GARETH Ainsworth believes a change in tactics will help to bring out the best in Jo Kuffour.
The striker scored his third goal of the campaign against Torquay on Saturday, meaning he has already beaten his goal tally from last season.
Kuffour was left largely isolated against Burton Albion in Wanderers' previous League Two game as he struggled to get to grips with Blues' long ball approach.
With the ball at his feet he looked a different prospect against the Gulls, as proved by him running on to Kortney Hause's through ball to score.
Ainsworth said: "He's had a tricky start to his career at Wycombe. Last year he needed a pre season.
"He's a very clever player. Maybe in a 4-4-2 he's not the man to play up front with long balls and balls coming into the box. The way we are playing through the midfield, Jo links up well and he showed what a poacher he is. He scored a great goal that got us back in the game."
Ainsworth revealed Kuffour played for just over an hour despite suffering from a sickness bug and he said: "He'll probably be on his bed now for a couple of days and he deserves it."
