Fly half kicks Beaconsfield to dramatic triumph
TWO penalties in the final two minutes saw Beaconsfield RFC shoot down Honourable Artillery Company 15-12 in London 2 North West.
Beaconsfield were 9-5 up until HAC went over for what looked like being a match-winning try two minutes from time.
However, the visitors wouldn’t lay down and were rewarded with a penalty almost immediately to level it at 12-12.
They still weren’t finished though, and in the last play of the game forced another penalty which Trendell converted to complete a dramatic turnaround.
Director of rugby Simon Tattersall said: “We showed amazing character.
“We could have kicked the ball out and taken a draw, but they backed themselves and were proved right.
“When you’re looking at taking one point with two minutes to go, to walk away with all four it a pretty good turnaround.
“We weren’t brilliant, but it’s another win away from home and we’re keeping ourselves in it, either by playing very well or by scraping it like we did on Saturday.”
