Wanderers snap up Danish midfielder
WYCOMBE Wanderers have snapped up experienced Danish midfielder Sebastian Cann-Svärd.
The former Arsenal and Stoke City man has signed a one-month contract at Adams Park, subject to international clearance.
The 30-year-old - who has fought his way back from a career threatening illness - had spells at FC Copenhagen, Brondby and has played in the UEFA Cup for Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães.
He said: “It’s great to be here and I’m happy to have signed a short-term deal. I’ve been out for a long time with a virus, but I’m back and healthy.
“I’m ready to play games, my match fitness is not 100%, but that’s improving. Training is good and tough and once I get my chance I will be alright.
“I want to get back to the level that I used to be and play as many games as possible. I’m happy that the team are doing well, it will be tough to get in and the boys look sharp at training.
“Competition is tough and that’s what I need.”
Cann-Svärd, who has represented his country at various youth levels and also been called-up to the full squad, will wear the number 15 shirt.
Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth added: “Sebastian’s ex-Arsenal and he’s played in Europe. He has an absolute wealth of experience and is a real calm-headed, quality footballer.
“He’s everything that you would want in a midfield general. He can play holding midfield and has a few other positions in his locker as well.
“He reads the game so well and in training he’s shown that he can put a tackle in and can pass the ball.
“Sebastian is a welcome addition to the squad, and he knows Jo Kuffour from his Arsenal days, so he’s got a good pedigree.
“It’s a short-term contract, but Sebastian wanted to come and get himself back into the game after a bit of a lay-off with a condition.”
Wanderers are at home to Bury tomorrow, kick-off is at 3pm.
