HIGH Wycombe RUFC steamrollered Swindon College Old Boys 43-0 on Saturday to break the 40-point barrier for the second week running.

Swindon were bottom of the Southern Counties North table with nine defeats from nine, but the victory backs up a 43-26 triumph over Wallingford in their previous match and means the low point of forfeiting the cup semi-final has been well and truly forgotten.

Director of rugby George Dorling said: “From the semi-final, we have turned a corner.

“The guys have all pulled together. We’ve got the commitment of everybody and fingers crossed it continues.

“The hard thing on Saturday was not slipping to the opposition’s level. I believe we could have scored more, but I’m not complaining.”

Saturday’s victory was also the first time in three seasons they’ve managed to win three league games in a row and they will try make if four when they go to Reading Abbey on Saturday.

Dorling said: “We targeted the last three games and next two.

“If things go our way, we could go to Christmas fourth in the league, which would be a real turnaround after our start to the season.”
