WASPS’ debilitating injury crisis among the backs deepened this week with two more players ruled out for the rest of the season.

Scrum half Jack Moates is unlikely to play again for six to nine months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Grenoble.

Ben Jacobs is out long term after damaging ankle ligaments in the same match.

Both players will need surgery.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young said: “It’s a huge shame to lose two players for the remainder of the season in one go and it’s a real blow to Jack and Ben.

“I know they will be working incredibly hard with our medical team to get back right.”
