NOT for the first time Wasps find Bayonne standing between themselves and an Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final.

The two clubs have been drawn together in each of the last two seasons, but while Wasps have topped the pool on each occasion and twice beaten the Frenchmen in Wycombe, they have yet to win at Stade Jean Dauger.

Last season they drew 13-13 while in December 2011 Bayonne saw them off 19-11.

Dai Young’s team have a three point pool lead and are sure to collect the maximum against Viadana in their final match, but returning from the south west of France with nothing could well spell disaster for their European hopes.

Full back Elliot Daly said: “We seem to get Bayonne every year and it seems to come down to us trying to get a result at their place in order to top the pool.

“It is always a tough place to go but we know exactly what we will be preparing for.

“Having played them at Adams Park earlier this season we know what they will bring. There will be some stars on show and when they are given ball in the right areas they will punish us.

“They are always a force when at home and we know that it will be a tough battle.”
