BILLY Knott's stay at Wanderers has been cut short a fortnight early after parent club Sunderland recalled him from his loan.

The 21-year-old midfielder was due to remain with Blues until January 29, making him eligible for a further three appearances for the club.

But Premier League Sunderland have today taken him back to the Stadium of Light.

Knott scored against Plymouth Argyle and Bristol City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and made 23 appearances for Wanderers after arriving on loan in August.

Such was the impact the Essex-born player made, his original loan deal was extended twice by Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth.
