WANDERERS captain Stuart Lewis said a no holds barred team meeting last week paved the way for a vastly improved display at Morecambe.

Blues looked a completely different side to the one who surrendered meekly to AFC Wimbledon as they were unfortunate not to take all three points from their trip to Lancashire.

Training was cancelled and the players were brought in for a team meeting last Sunday and Lewis said that was key to the improvement Wanderers showed.

And he hopes it could prove to be a turning point in the season as they prepare to build on the performance at Morecambe in the M40 derby with Oxford United at Adams Park.

He said: "Last week wasn't good enough. We were in Sunday and there were a few home truths that needed to be said.

"In a way I think Sunday we can take as the turning point of the season. Last Saturday wasn't good enough. It's something we can build on and hopefully we can take that into the local derby next week."

Blues deservedly led at the break at the Globe Arena thanks to a Paris Cowan-Hall header before a late Kevin Ellison equaliser.

Despite the setback Wanderers could still have stolen a win as Josh Scowen and Jo Kuffour both had efforts cleared off the line in the last five minutes.

Lewis was left with mixed feelings at the result.

He said: "First half we were excellent after last week's performance. That was what we were looking for. It's disappointing to come away with a point but it's something to build on.

"Although we conceded we were still pushing at the end and we could have nicked the three points. It's a good point away from home - Morecambe are playing well at the moment so we'll take the point, but there's a slight disappointment."
