CHESHAM RFC will try to build on their impressive cup form of recent seasons by adding the Southern Counties Senior Vase to their trophy cabinet this year.

The Stags won the Bucks Bowl in December and will begin their Southern Counties quest with a home semi-final against Hungerford on Saturday.

Captain Olly Jaycocks, inset, said: “We have a good win rate in the cup over the past two seasons, winning three cups already.

“We won the Buck’s Plate and the Southern Counties Junior Vase last season, and beat Slough before Christmas to secure the 2014 Buck’s Bowl.

“Our success has been down to our work rate for the full eighty minutes and the lads and I are ready and looking forward to the step up to the Southern Counties Senior Vase.”

Hungerford are four places and 15 points better off than Chesham in the BB&O Premier, having beaten them 29-7 earlier in the season.

However, Chesham have home advantage this time and Jaycocks hopes that can swing the cup tie their way.

He said: “We’ve been working on the physical side of our game and taking the opportunities to score when we can. Focusing on clinical finishing and working the opposition until the last minute has got us some great results “We know it’ll be a tough game and we won’t underestimate them.

“However, I’m confident that if we play to the best of our ability we can get the result and move into the final.”
