JOE Carlisle showed everyone what he is capable of with a Man of the Match perforance against Viadana last weekend, but the fly half has been told to hit that level regularly if he hopes to challenge Andy Good for the fly half jersey at Wasps.

Carlisle scored 19 points against the Italians, including a late try to wrap up the Man of the Match gong.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “I thought he did well, but saying that, when Andy Goode came on the tempo increased again.

“It’s about nailing some consistent performances for Joe.

“We all know how exciting he can be in patches and how skillful he is, but he obviously needs to do it on a consistent period right through the game.

“He’s got the next couple of weeks where he can get some game time and put some real pressure on, because we want pressure for positions right across the board.”
