MARLOW FC became the first team to take points off Daventry at their own ground as they battled to a 1-1 draw in the Southern League Central Division.
Daventry had won all 11 of their home matches before Mark Bartley’s side rocked up and stunned them by taking an early lead through Carl Davies.
The hosts did equalise just before half-time, but Marlow matched them after the break and were good value for their point.
Bartley said: “They’d played 11 and won 11 so those were the first points they’d dropped at home.
“You’ve seen how free-scoring they’ve been, but I did my homework on them and set us up with a gameplan I thought could get us a result.
“They probably had their eyes on other games.
“We spoke about that and could have come away with all three points. We’ve certainly played better than that this season ,but in terms of results that was one of our best.”
On Saturday they host St Ives, one place above them in the table.
