IF Katherine Grainer does decided to row until the Rio Games in 2016 she will do it without long-time doubles partner Anna Watkins.
Watkins has decided to take a long-term break from the sport after having her first child last September.
Marlow's Grainger has also had time away from rowing since following three Olympic silver medlas with a gold at London 2012.
She has been finishing her studies and has yet not announced if she’ll return to rowing.
However, Watkins’ decision to sit out Rio and possibly return for the Tokyo Games in 2020 could have a bearing on Grainger’s decision; in three years together, the pair won all 23 of their races.
