WYCOMBE High School will compete in the Schools National Squash Finals for the second year running after a resounding victory over Brookfield Community School from Chesterfield.

Their U15s met in the final qualifying round at Leamington Spa Squash & Racketball Club, and Wycombe were expecting a tough match against a team that topped their qualifying group.

However, they made a breakneck start with Jessica Martin, Lilley Morgan and Emily Morgan all winning their matches 3-0 to virtually book Wycombe’s place in the finals.

Cassie Morgan backed them up with another 309 triumph, and although number one player Bethan Draper was beaten at the top of the draw, her match was academic by then.

Wycombe, who will hope to qualify their U19s team as well in the coming weeks, will now go to Manchester on March 12 for the finals.

It is the second year running the girls have reached finals day.
