Window shopping over for Ainsworth

Bucks Free Press: Anthony Jeffrey is one of three new signings for Blues in the January window Anthony Jeffrey is one of three new signings for Blues in the January window

WANDERERS boss Gareth Ainsworth said he's done all of his shopping ahead of the January transfer window closing tonight - and he's got everything crossed nobody leaves Adams Park before the deadline.

Deals have to be done by midnight and Ainsworth has told fans not to expect any more incoming transfers after Anthony Jeffrey, Reece Styche and Jordan Mustoe all arrived in the last month.

But he hasn't ruled out a last-minute swoop for one of his players, having seen Charles Dunne sign for Blackpool on the last day of the summer transfer window.

Defender Kortney Hause in particular has been linked with a move away from Adams Park and the younger players in the Wanderers ranks have attracted attention from elsewhere.

Asked if any transfer dealings were planned, Ainsworth told the Bucks Free Press: "Definitely not coming in. Going out, obviously players are linked all the time, whether it's newspapers or TV or the dreaded Twitter. It's something we've lived with and if it does happen, I don't think anyone will be surprised.

"At the moment a full squad's turned up Thursday morning ready to train, and they are Wycombe Wanderers players for another 24 hours at least.

"I'd be lying if I said midnight on Friday wouldn’t be a nice moment if nobody's left the club, because I have got a full squad ready to hit the last 20 games hard and get the points needed to guarantee we are a League Two club next year and see how far we get."

He added: "The Trust have been great letting me get some of the players I wanted in. I don't think I can be spitting my dummy out if somebody goes the other way if a decent bid comes in. It's not a case of counting the hours down but it'll be nice if nobody does leave - but I'd understand if somebody does have to."
