TWO former Wycombe Squash and Racket Club stars returned to their former club to battle for the Bucks Closed Championships Senior titlte.

It was master against pupil as Tom Power took on Matt Marshall and it was Power who held sway as his 10-8, 10-8, 9-1 victory earned him the Dashwood Trophy for the second time.

Alex Hartley of Holmer Green won the A Plate.

Meanwhile, Chesham Bois’ Amy Jones beat Heather Joy of Beaconsfield in the Ladies final, WSRC’s Sydney Wallace won the Ladies B final and Lucie Grosset, also of WSRC, won the A Plate.

Another home player, Petr Nedzarilik, took the C Grade title against Chris Inskip of Aylesbury while WSRC junior Freddie Evans beat clubmate Renaud Besnard to the C Plate final.

In the B Grade, Ross Baker of Holmer Green beat Rob Wallace to the trophy but Neil Baker couldn’t make it a club double in the B Plate, going down to WSRC’s Andy Walters.

Meanwhile, in league action, WSRC 1s moved up to fourth place with a vibrant 18-5 victory over Beaconsfield Bears.

Nedzarilik dismissed John Bullard in the first match, before Goff Power came from 2-0 to beat Jo Smalley 3-2.

Rob Wallace had already won his match 3-0 by then to secure overall victory, and George Goodchild underlined it with WSRC’s fouth individual win.

However, Adam Pyne couldn’t complete a cleansweep, going down to Dave Powell despite leading 2-1.

In Division One, champions Chesham Bois 1A beat Gerrards Cross 19-5 to open up a 34-point lead, and in Division Three, WSRC 3s were well beaten 17-6 in the top-two clash against Aylesbury 2s, who now lead by 18 points.

In the Berkshire Veterans League Division Four, Wycombe Temple won 20-3 against Beechdown thanks to Julian Francis, Mark Merriman, Jon Ould, Rob Wallace and Simon Miller.
