WASPS say Bradley Davies won’t be the last big name addition to the squad ahead of next season.

The Welsh international lock will arrive from Cardiff Blues in the summer and should join Joe Launchbury in a formidabble second row partnership.

At 27, he is in the prime of his career and has been a fixture in the Wales side since making his debut in 2009, with 42 caps to his name.

He said: “I know Dai very well from my time at the Blues and his vision for Wasps is something that has been very appealing to me.

“I have been with the Blues since I was 17 years old and I have a huge amount to thank everyone there for, but I am also hugely excited about playing in a new league with a new club.”

Young said: “We have a pool of very good locks here and bringing someone like Bradley in will only broaden that group, offering us huge experience and quality.

“I know Bradley quite well and he is a great guy to have in your squad.

“He is a proven leader which has been recognised with him captaining his country, and, as we continue to strengthen our side, I think he will be an excellent player for us.”

Davies won’t be the last significant announcement either, with Young saying a few more signings would be unveiled in the coming weeks with Wasps also still on the lookout for more players.

He said: “The first thing was retention and I’m pleased we’ve done as much as we can on that front.

“Most of the squad are tied up for at least two seasons now. Very few are on one year contracts, which is pleasing.

“Now we’ve got to add quality and strength in depth around the people we’ve already got and we’re pleased with our new recruits, who will be announced over the next week or so.

“But we’re still in the market for a couple more as well.”
